Clinical Medical Ethics
Series Editors:
H. Tristram Engelhardt, Jr., Rice University and Baylor College of Medicine
Kevin William Wildes, S.J., Georgetown University
Books in this Series
The Clinical Medical Ethics series explores central themes in bioethics and health care policy in single-author short volumes. The series aims to bring together a literature that is important but complex. Each volume provides a focused exposition otherwise not available in the literature. Though books may have already appeared on the same topic, a Clinical Medical Ethics series volume attempts to provide a better synthetic and summarizing account. The volumes are written to be accessible to physicians, nurses, lawyers, and those working on health care policy, not just specialists in ethics or bioethics. Finally, each volume offers a new approach to the materials so that the work stands in its own right as a scholarly contribution to the literature of bioethics.
H. Tristram Engelhardt, Jr., is a professor in the department of philosophy at Rice University and professor emeritus at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas, as well as editor of the Journal of Medicine and Philosophy and senior editor of Christian Bioethics.
Kevin William Wildes, S.J. is associate dean of Georgetown College at Georgetown University.
